Audrey Noir stands over Father Jim with her dark hair falling across her eyes. She forces him to kneel on the worn carpet, still in his black shirt and pants. He begs. She tells him to strip. He peels off layer after layer until nothing covers him. She keeps her coat on, buttoned to the throat, and watches him shrink under the light. He starts to pray. The words sound thin. His voice cracks on the next line of the prayer. She leans close, breath hot against his ear, and tells him to keep going.
