Emma Haize in the Electric Dangling Dance
2011·24 min
Emma hangs from her wrists, wrists already raw. The straps hold her high above two blocks, nothing else beneath her. Copper plates sit on each, waiting. One wrong step and the shock hits. She fights with the gag biting between her teeth, jaw stretched wide, drool sliding down her chin.
She twists and kicks, tries to swing the straps toward one block. Her toes stretch for the edge. The first touch is safe. She plants both feet, just long enough to reach the strap at her ankle. Her fingers slip on the buckle. She pushes again, finds the second block, hesitates. The copper could live or it could burn.
Her breathing changes. Sweat shines on her skin. The room is hot, heavy. Each time she drops she risks the current. Each time she misses the strap her body swings harder. The blocks start to feel like guesses. She lands wrong once and her legs jerk. Electricity runs up her thighs, fast and sharp. She screams into the gag, feet dancing away from the plates.
Fatigue creeps in. Her shoulders burn. The straps cut deeper. Every move becomes slower, less certain. She looks down, studies the blocks, tries to remember which is safe. She can’t be sure anymore. The fear shows in her eyes, in the way she hangs back, toes barely brushing the surface before she yanks them away again. She keeps going, keeps guessing, keeps paying for every mistake with another jolt.
The black hair sticks to her face. The gag forces her mouth open wider. She can’t speak. She can only moan, whine, and fight the next swing. Her body shakes. The dance gets smaller, tighter, until every landing is a gamble she might lose.
